Study: Older C-Level Execs Avoid Twitter, Blogs →
A recent study unsurprisingly found that only 1 percent of top executives over the age of 50 at U.S. companies provide daily contributions to a work-related blog, and only 4 percent say they blog a few times a week. In comparison, 35 percent of 40-something executives and 56 percent of those under the age of 40 post on a work-related blog daily.
In addition, only 3 percent of the 50+ execs are on...

The Day the Internet Almost Died →
We all know by now that news of Michael Jackson’s death crashed Twitter (though, what doesn’t crash Twitter?), but take a look at what other damage The King of Pop posthumously wreaked on the Web:

TweetPysch: Twitter Psychological Profiling Has... →
TweetPysch, a simple new service that derives a psychological profile based on a Twitter user’s last 1,000 tweets, uses two linguistic analysis algorithms to build a psychological profile of a person based on the content of their tweets.
According to my results I express positive emotions 45.8% of the time, which totally suprised me.

Dell makes $3 million from Twitter sales →
Dell has said attributed $3 million of its sales to its @DellOutlet Twitter account, which posts special offers — at least half are Twitter exclusives. Since social media measurement is such a gray area right now and a very hot topic, I am extremely curious as to how they were able to determine this figure.

Orphaned Tweets →
Remember that Nielsen study we mentioned that found most Twitter users are actually “Twitter quitters” who give up after just one tweet? Well, Slate did us all a favor and culled a bunch of those single, orphaned tweets. Here are some of my favorites:

The Twitter Gender Gap →
A new Harvard Business School study of over 300,000 Twitter users found some interesting facts about the Twitter “battle of the sexes.” Men comprise 45% of Twitter users, while women make up 55%. However, despite the female majority, it seems to be a bit of a boys’ club.
Men have 15% more followers than women, and the average man is almost twice as likely to follow another...

There are homeless people with nicer computers...
It’s true! I have a Dell Inspiron that my father gave me as a high school graduation present - that’s about seven years ago. And, according to this fascinating article in today’s Wall Street Journal, there are people living in vans who have Mac PowerBooks.
The article is great and the commentary is spot-on. The author, Phred Dvorak, aptly notes that at the dawn of the Internet...
