It’s interesting that this story published just as I’m about 3/4 finished with New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight saga. (Don’t judge, I’ve never read books this fast in my life.) I was just thinking last night “Is there really a Forks, Wash.?”
While a little tacky, it’s great that the community of Forks is finding ways to cash in on the fanfare of the popular books and movies with superfans who will actually cross the country and pay money to sleep in hotel rooms plastered with posters of Robert Pattinson (probably not much unlike their own bedrooms at home).
In Forks, you can now take bus tours to homes that look like the descriptions of the homes of Bella and Jacob. So do we think the Tuscan village of Volterra (in my current chapter in New Moon) will soon have sewer rides where tourists can plunge into drains that take them to secret vampire lairs? Sign me up!
