As photosharing services and location-based applications have been gaining popularity, it was only a matter of time before there was a boozy version of these social media tools. Wine lovers can now join VinPass to share what they’re tasting and connect with fellow wine drinkers.

Similar to Foursquare, the new game allows users to earn badges and rewards (including MP3s, event tickets and more) by sharing their reviews. VinPass, the first-ever wine-related social game to be played across multiple web and mobile platforms, plans to tap into existing online wine communities to directly reach socially-savvy wine consumers.

Sounds like an easy and fun way to learn about wine — and make new wine-drinking friends, which you can never have enough of. Cheers to that!
